White Night
Behind the Art
“Little kitty on a rooftop, all alone without his lady…”
Ladybug vs. Chat Blanc
White Night was a turning point in my art journey, as I explored new coloring techniques to bring depth and emotion to the scene. I used a glow layer to give a surreal edge to the characters and added a gradient to create contrast, darkening the body to highlight and draw attention to the face. I also experimented with the line art, choosing varied pen sizes and customized settings to give a more dynamic feel—a technique that became foundational in my later works.
The composition itself reflects the intense standoff between Ladybug and Chat Blanc. Having become akumatized, Chat Noir has transformed into Chat Blanc, driven by an all-consuming desire to seize Ladybug’s Miraculous, erase the past, and restore the world he blames himself for breaking. Fans of Miraculous Ladybug will recognize the heartbreaking weight of this moment, a pivotal clash of hope and despair.
With White Night, I wanted to capture Chat Blanc’s tortured madness, twisted by his solitude over months, and Ladybug’s fierce determination to save her friend from this tragic fate. Through these details, I hoped to bring their struggle to life, highlighting both the inner darkness and relentless hope that make this battle so poignant.
