Cold Saviour
Behind the Art
Senkara and Melaresah, each in their own way could be considered a ‘cold saviour’, Melaresah, being a white dragonborn with ice abilities, and Senkara with his cold heart and icy demeanor.
They always save each other from themselves.
Both characters from our Dungeons and Dragons game, this scene is set after 2 major events. The first, saving Senkara from being taken over by the darkness of his heart and bringing him back to the light. After which Melaresah was taken over by her own darkness and her lineage, having transformed into a full dragon needing her friends to bring her back.
These characters were made for Dungeons and Dragons, Senkara was created by me, I have another drawing of him in the gallery, Senkara the Haunted One, that explains all the design choices the only difference here is he now has one arm with dragon scales and red eyes both of which he obtained from a red dragon in our game.
Melaresah, a white dragonborn cleric, was designed by my friend and fellow player. She has white scales and is wearing her blue cleric dress. It’s not as clear in this drawing but her dress has a red and yellow spike pattern representing the symbol of the Sun (her religion).
In the background is Melaresah's dragon form, at one point, due to things in her backstory, she turned into a full dragon and Senkara and their friends saved her and turned her back into her usual self.
I wanted to keep the background relatively simple and plain, to not distract from the main image, so I just used different shades of blue like ice and white fire embers or snow in the foreground.
Overall, I think this is one of my most emotional pieces and it holds a special place in my heart.
